We are constantly trying to lose those extra few pounds, especially at the end of a major holiday when we are feeling especially guilty and determined. Unfortunately, many make a strong effort for a few weeks but lose their motivation after a month. Most diets last less than 30 days before people quit. This is primarily true because most people are still looking to have the immediate gratification. They want to lose weight to fit into a new bathing suit and promise themselves they will do whatever it takes to fit into it, as long as it is ‘easy’. The majority of dieters are still not aware of the importance of a healthy diet, even when trying to lose weight. They wind up picking the wrong fad diet for the wrong reasons and become very discouraged during or after the diet.
You know that you have chosen the wrong diet if:
- Following the diet is leaving you feeling hungry all of the time. The portions are extremely limited and you are left to count calories or points instead of enjoying real food. Often, there is not enough water-based, fiber foods (such as fruits and vegetables) to keep you feeling full throughout the day so you are more inclined to cheat and not follow through.
- The diet is too time-consuming or too complex because you need to buy and prepare special foods, combine foods, buy supplements, cook esoteric recipe, or spend all day counting points or calories.
- The diet ends. You celebrate. And a few months later, you gain the weight back. Viewing a diet as a temporary quick fix is a big problem. Many fad diets are just not sustainable for the long term and people do not make a commitment to changing their lifestyle to include daily exercise and a plant-based diet which includes leafy greens, ripe fruits, colorful vegetables, whole grains, and, of course, dark chocolate.
The Chocolate Diet is a lifestyle diet which people can continue for 30, 40, or 50 years without feeling deprived of nutritious and delicious real foods. This is why I recommend it to people who want to live well, live long, enjoy every meal, and achieve permanent weight loss.
